We began our journey into Argentina crossing several lakes through the

Andean Mountains arriving in Bariloche. Magellan Penguins and the shy wild Vicuna were in abundance during an excursion to Punta Tombo.  From there we began the long journey across the desert to visit the Welsh village of Trelew which gave me the answer I had been searching for. It's the land. Not the peoples and their customs but the land itself which is the signifier of Patagonia. It alone is Patagonian culture.
